Known for his unmistakably deep voice and powerful stage presence, Kurt Deimer has built a reputation as both a hard rock musician and rising horror actor. His newest film Scared To Death introduces Deimer’s on-screen persona “The Grog”, a character that merges his theatrical rock style with the dark world of horror cinema. Deimer’s new album A Grog Is Born somehow works as the soundtrack for the movie, but it’s much more than that. The new album marks the cinematic follow-up to Deimer’s debut album, And So It Begins..., released in May 2025. A Grog Is Born also has been tweaked by legendary ’80s producer Chris Lord-Alge, and features tracks co-written with Bon Jovi guitarist Phil X, who also plays guitars, while terrific Brian Tichy plays drums. The single “In Deep” features a duet with Josh Todd from Buckcherry. A Grog Is Born also includes a guest appearance from legend Geoff Tate for a gorgeous reinvention of Queensrÿche’s classic “Silent Lucidity”. Additionally, Deimer and his fabulous band did a heavy recreation of the Phil Collins hit “In The Air Tonight”. Chris Lord-Alge did a great job providing variation in terms of sound, and A Grog Is Born was impeccably mastered by another legend, Ted Jensen.
