Just strong riffs, breathing rhythms, violin, jaw harp, and Vintersorg sounding raw, urgent, and serious. Though often called a demo, “Bertagen” never felt like one. The songs are fully formed, memorable, and played with intent. This is where Otyg’s spirit truly lives, long before it was softened or streamlined elsewhere.
Now remastered in 2025 by Vintersorg, the re issue finally does justice to this material.

“I Trollskogens Drömmande Mörker” is Otyg stepping further into their own world. More bite, more movement, and more confidence than “Bertagen”. The songs are tighter, the melodies sharper, and the playing more adventurous, without losing the natural Folk feel. The violin and female vocals are woven into the music, not sitting on top of it. They add depth and character rather than decoration. Norrut stands out as proof of how skilled and imaginative the band already were, while the final tracks slow things down and leave a lingering, almost ritual atmosphere. Remastered in 2025 by Vintersorg, this re-issue keeps the raw edge intact while giving the recordings the clarity they deserve.
